Scheduling Regular Updates

If your site makes smaller, incremental changes to DNS and/or NIS netgroups, you

can use the

at command to arrange for regular NIS updates. The at command is in cfg

mode.

As mentioned above, a redundant pair keeps independent NIS caches on each peer.

Schedule these updates on both peers.

For example, the following command sequence runs the

nis update command every

night at 5:15 AM:

bstnA6k(gbl)# end

bstnA6k# config

bstnA6k(cfg)# at 05:15:00 every 1 days do “nis update”

bstnA6k(cfg)# ...

As another example, the following command sequence causes nis update to run every

Saturday at midnight:

bstnA6k(gbl)# end

bstnA6k# config

bstnA6k(cfg)# at 00:00:00 every saturday do “nis update”

bstnA6k(cfg)# ...
